Bayside 5-a-side Cup Round 7 - U11

December 9, 2016

Round 7 of the Bayside 5-a-side Cup was played on Saturday 10th December. The Cobra5 were versing the 8th placed Hampton United.

Despite missing key players Jack and Lukas Oliver , the debut by new U11 Goalkeeper Gian Bresaolin and the return of Lenny bolstered our numbers meant that the Cobra5 were confident of securing the win.

The Cobra5 were off to a rocky start however when some lax defense let the opposition draw first blood. From that point however the Cobra5 assumed control of the match with our trademark passing game and some fantastic heads-up running allowing the boys to move the ball around with ease.

Once woken from their lethargy our defense was superb and our new U11 goalkeeper Gian demonstrated great promise with diving saves and calm sweeping at the back.

After 10 minutes the team found themselves once again playing against 6 players but that did not seem to have any real impact on the match.

Half time score 9-1.

The second half saw the Cobra5 dominate play with some scything runs , accurate passing and calm determination in front of goal.

Theo, Lenny and Aston dazzled the opposition with their moves whilst Nils, Fede and Corey were hunting the loose ball at every opportunity to capitalise and create opportunities.

Goals were well distributed between the team members and could have been a load more.

Final Score 20-1

Of particular note was the energetic and unselfish play by Lucas Jonas breaking through the middle and setting his team mates up on several occasions with great passes.

This was Lucas' last game with the Cobra5 as he is returning home to Sweden. it was a real pleasure having him with us and we thank him for his contribution to our season.

The club wishes Lucas safe travels and the best of luck for his continued success on and off the field.

Next week 17th December will be the final round before the Christmas Break and will see the Cobra5 playing against the Falcons who currently reside in 2nd position on the table.

The team will be focused on sealing the first half of the season with an unbeaten record.
